We are happy to announce that we become a member of one of the Europe’s Cultural Route ‘Routes of Reformation’.
In March 2024, a request of our Museum to become a member of the Council of Europe Cultural Route ‘Routes of Reformation’ was approved.
Formally the membership will be endorsed in the institution’s general assembly in Erfurt on October 17 of this year.
The main objects of ‘Routes of Reformation’ in Kėdainiai are: Kėdainiai Evangelic Reformed Church, the Arnets’ House (a former residence of superintendents of the Evangelic Reformed Church), Rectors’ houses, Kėdainiai Gymnasium Illustre, Kėdainiai Evangelic Lutheran Church.
In 2019 it was granted a certificate of the Council of Europe cultural route. The Route of Reformation is a reflection of the centuries history, when followers of the Christianity movements shared a common desire to change institutions and destroy the status quo. In this open and tolerant cultural route various aspects of Reformation are harmonised transcending national borders: highly valued differences of local regions Reformation histories, cultures and societies, at the same time all members are united by the Route of Reformation, promoting common heritage and values, distinguishing itself as a unique contribution to tourism and development of territories. The
eformation heritage is collection of movements related with the Christianity, that took place in the 16 th century in Europe and originating from ideas prevailing in the 12 th century, that revealed various regional and national specificities, material and intangible heritage. These movements encouraged cultural and religious diversity, transformation of the daily Christian practice and clergy, contributed to changes of the social, cultural, political values and ideas. Their heritage is broad – from buildings, written documents, sites of historical events, journeys’ paths, works of art, museums and exhibitions to cultural traditions, music, legends and celebrations. Enjoy the roads of this cultural route visiting more than 80 sites related with Reformation in 8 European countries, which are involved in a network of the Route of Reformation.
